OPEN THE KINDERGARTENS FOR ALL CHILDREN!

Davis is a 5 years old boy with angelic eyes and DRAVET Syndrome (a rare type of epilepsy). He is a loving and sociable child, ready to make friends and to learn new things.  Despite all these, he was abusively excluded from the kindergarten where his mother had enrolled him two weeks earlier. The reason: the child has a disability. The kindergarten manger considered that in her capacity, she is entitled to decide that the educational future of little Davis ends at her kindergarten gate.

European Centre for the Rights of Children with Disabilities (CEDCD) took notice of this discrimination act against little Davis and initiated the legal proceedings of complaint towards the National Council for Combating Discrimination.

We are deeply concerned with the attitude of some decision makers in the education system that too easily ban the access to education of the children with disabilities. We draw attention  on the fact that the national and international legislation regarding the rights of persons with disabilities, as well as the legislation for combating discrimination is equally applicable to the public and private education services providers,” declared Madalina TURZA, the President of the European Centre for the Rights of Children with Disabilities
