The teacher who assaulted the Down Syndrome child leaves the education system.

Bucharest the 21^stof December 2012.Following the actions of CEDCD in the case of the first grader with Down syndrome who was assaulted and had his mouth taped by the teacher of a school in Bucharest, the teacher has left the education system.

The General School Inspectorate of Bucharest Municipality (ISMB) has started an investigation following the case that CEDCD lawyers brought forth which confirmed what CEDCD have stated, even though the teacher in question doesn’t admit to applying tape to Mihai’s mouth, only threatened to do so. The ISMB report shows that Mihai “can attend mainstream education classes and can meet the educational needs” of the school he is registered at.

Equally, CEDCD draws the attention of the 114 Secondary School’s administration, the school Mihai is registered to, that any act of hostility or instigation from the parents of other students towards the pupil with Down syndrome and his family will entail legal consequences as the child will continue to be monitored be CEDCD.We mention that incitement to discrimination constitutes an offense and is punishable accordingly under Art. 317 Penal Code.
