Tudor and his mother have proved that it is possible! Moments like these motivate us to go further. Earlier this year Tudor was on the verge of expulsion because of discrimination. CEDCD supported the 7 year old boy with Down syndrome from Hunedoara County to obtain the fundamental right for every child: the right to education. Today he is a graduate of first grade. Background information:
International and national Legislation expressly provides the free access to education of all children, including those with disabilities, but this right is often violated in Romania, in particular in relation to minors with disabilities. CEDCD draws attention to the public authorities in the field regarding the compulsoriness of implementing the provisions of the UN Convention on the rights of persons with disabilities, which stipulates clearly the need to respect and ensure access to education of children with disabilities.
